Some of the tools of my trade

The first polymer clay was developed in the late 1930s by German doll maker Fifi Rehbinder who couldn't find supplies during WW2. She called her plastic “Fifi Mosaik” and used this for sculpting her doll heads. (That's why, when I was looking for a name for my jewellery, I called it 'Fifi by Pru').
You may have used polymer clay yourselves with your children or grandchildren. Two of the most popular brands are Sculpey and Fimo.
Interestingly, Fifi Rehbinder sold her 'Fifi Mosiak' to an American company who still market it today. Hence the name Fimo.
Polymer clay is extremely versatile. It can be mixed, marbled, blended, squished, chopped and stamped. You can add paints, alcohol inks or mica powders. You never quite know what is going to happen, so every piece is unique and you can let your imagination run riot.
It is also very lightweight, so any piece is easy to wear. I try to make my jewellery fun and avoid complicated fastenings where possible.
Have a look at my collection and if there is any piece you are interested in, please contact me.
Thank you, Pru
